August 22, 2009 - P.M. training session
This afternoon we worked on trailer loading. This was her third time seeing a trailer!
I also introduced her to one of those giant umbrellas that sit on top of tables.

August 22, 2009 - A.M. training session
Today we started out working with the scary tarp. Halo has been introduced to the tarp several times, but not really recently. She hesitated for a second when I asked her to walk over it and then she trotted over. I took her over it 3 more times, and the last time she walked over calmly with her head low. One awesome thing about her is that even if something scares her, she gets over it so quickly.
After walking her over it, I picked it up and began rubbing her with it. This scared her a little bit, but she relaxed quickly and I was able to throw it at and over her with no problems. Then we walked together with the tarp dragging behind. No problems there either.
Next, we worked on flexing to the halter. This is something I haven't worked with her on, but she already understands the concept of giving to pressure and picked it up very quickly. She flexed twice in each direction and then we moved on.
Next was picking up feet, which is absolutely nothing to her. I can do anything I want to her feet, no problems.
Last, we worked on leading, stopping and backing up. She was great as always!

Meet Halo!
Halo was born May 19, 2009 and is a Quarter Horse (RMJ Sonnys Poco Jack X Kids Dun Lady). I bought her mother while she was still pregnant with Halo. My dream was to raise a baby of my own, and Halo has been more than I could have ever hoped for!
I've been with her since the first moment of her life, and I'm hoping we'll have MANY MANY MANY years together! This blog will be a way to keep track of her growth, training, and our journey together.
